Step right up!

Coming Soon.

Dear New Paltz Friends & Neighbors,

In 1992, I opened my first bar, Legends Sports Bar, on 32 North in New Paltz.  I was a 22-year-old with big dreams and little experience, and although I never made any money, I had a lot of fun!  After 2 years, I closed Legends and moved to the city to manage the Caliente Cab Company Café and Hard Rock Café. While I was at the Hard Rock, one of my regular Legends customers, Craig Gioia, reached out about partnering on a bar In Poughkeepsie.  That bar was the first McGillicuddy’s and that partnership turned into 30 years of opening restaurants and bars in Hyde Park, Poughkeepsie and here in New Paltz where it all started, with our most successful venture, McGillicuddy’s Restaurant & Tap House.

Craig and I are now happy to announce the upcoming opening of our newest venture, Sideshow Kitchen & Bar, located in the new building behind McGillicuddy’s, with direct access from the municipal lot.  Together with local artist and contractor, Ryan Cronin, we are creating a unique, casual space with exposed steel beams and floor-to-ceiling garage doors that open to a dog friendly patio with plenty of seating and a fire pit so you can enjoy all that downtown New Paltz has to offer.

Our menu will offer popular dishes with a unique twist, barbeque from our on-site smoker, a creative take on carnival food and plenty of shareable small plate items.

We are looking forward to a fall opening and will be open for lunch, dinner, happy hour, and late night.  So, whether you are looking for a meal or a casual place to grab a drink and sit outside on the patio, we hope to see you there!
